ASP: Technological solutions for monitoring of illicit trafficking of nuclear, radioactive and other dangerous materials as an innovative and efficient protection of urban critical infrastructures.
Project Horizon 2020
The project is elaborated on the basis of our business plan in the field of European Framework programme for Research and Innovation 2014-2020 of Horizon 2020. In tight relation to the objectives of the “DRS-17-2014” call, this project is focused on the development of an innovative technical solution for monitoring of illicit trafficking of nuclear, radioactive and other dangerous materials as an efficient means for the protection of urban critical infrastructures. The technical goal of the project is to develop and validate a functional prototype for high-throughput screening of objects passing a critical infrastructure and urban soft targets (railways, highways, airports, shipping ports). The action will be built on the successful phase 1 development we have performed on critical railway infrastructure in Slovakia and will proactively target the needs and requirements of users such as national law enforcement agencies, public and private operators of critical transportation infrastructures, national radiation monitoring networks, I/O safety of the nuclear power plants, ironworks and steel-mills, companies handling with iron scrap and other wastes and also the other producers of monitoring devices.
The project was successful three times in a row in a highly competitive evaluation process of the Horizon 2020 program as an innovative project proposal.
